The Group Managing Director of Abuja Investments Company Limited (AICL), Ambassador Maureen Tamuno, has said the 2026 edition of the Abuja Business and Investment Expo (ABIE 3.0) is deliberately designed to move beyond discussions and policy conversations to concrete investments capable of driving sustainable economic growth in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) and Nigeria.

Speaking at the opening ceremony of the three-day investment summit in Abuja, Tamuno described the annual expo as a strategic platform that has evolved into a catalyst for investment promotion, business partnerships and economic development since its inception.

According to her, “the objective of this year’s edition is to create an environment where investors, policymakers, financial institutions and the private sector can engage directly and translate opportunities into viable business ventures.”

“This year’s edition is about moving from conversations to concrete action,” she said, noting that the expo has become more than an annual gathering, but a meeting point for innovative ideas, strategic collaborations and investment opportunities capable of stimulating inclusive economic growth.

She explained that participants would engage in investment forums, exhibitions, business-to-business networking sessions and policy dialogues aimed at strengthening investor confidence and unlocking opportunities across critical sectors of the economy. These include real estate, infrastructure, technology, renewable energy, solid minerals, sports and the creative economy.

“Our expectation is simple: that when this Expo comes to an end, it will have opened new doors, created meaningful partnerships and laid the foundation for investments that will benefit both Abuja and Nigeria for many years to come,” Tamuno stated.

Speaking on the theme of this year’s expo, “Building Nigeria’s Capital: Investment as a Catalyst for Economic Growth,” she observed that cities that achieve sustainable growth are those that deliberately create enabling environments for investment, innovation and enterprise development.

She said Abuja is positioning itself as one of Africa’s most attractive investment destinations through deliberate reforms, improved infrastructure and policies aimed at enhancing the ease of doing business.

Tamuno commended the ongoing infrastructure renewal programme of the Federal Capital Territory Administration under the leadership of the Minister of the FCT, Nyesom Wike, noting that significant investments in road networks, urban renewal and public services have strengthened Abuja’s competitiveness and improved its attractiveness to both local and foreign investors.

She also referenced the Federal Capital Territory’s ranking as fourth in the 2025 Presidential Enabling Business Environment Council (PEBEC) Subnational Ease of Doing Business Report as evidence that ongoing reforms are yielding positive results. However, she stressed that sustained collaboration between government and the private sector remains essential to maintaining the momentum and attracting larger volumes of investment.

The opening ceremony attracted a broad spectrum of stakeholders, including diplomats, government officials, development partners, business executives, entrepreneurs, investors and representatives of the creative industry, reflecting growing confidence in Abuja’s economic potential and the strategic role of ABIE as a platform for promoting investment, fostering partnerships and accelerating Nigeria’s economic transformation.
