Mr. Mohammed I. Magaji

Head of Strategy Development

Mohammed Ibrahim Magaji is currently the Head of Strategy Development in Abuja Investments Company Limited.

A graduate of Business Administration from Bayero University Kano (BUK) in 1999 and has obtained an M.B.A (Business Administration) from the same Bayero University in 2004. Mr Mohammed had earlier obtained a diploma in Banking & Finance from the University of Jos in 1993.

In the year 1990 to 1991 he acquired banking experience working with the defunct Allied Bank of Nig. Plc and three (3) months industrial attachment with defunct Afribank Bauchi branch in 1992. During his NYSC he served in Kano State with Ahmed Zakari & Co. (Chattered Accountants) in 1999 to 2000.

Currently working with Abuja Investments Company Limited since year 2001.

Strategy Development coordinates the identification, research and selection of new profitable investment opportunities that will maximize the value of the company and also contributes to the economic development of the FCT.

a. Project Initiation, Research, Analysis and Incubation: the department works as a think tank injecting creativity and enumerating holistic rationales for proposed projects, including those proposed by external parties.
b. Business Advisory Services: the department offers broad-based advice regarding both internally generated and unsolicited proposals. This service is mainly with regards to alignment of such proposal with the company’s overall goals as well as ascertainment of viability and commercial justification.
c. Venture Capital: the department undertakes research to extract available quick wins, wherefrom the company may be able to achieve marginal turnaround of investments within a short time frame. This however is subject to availability of funding set aside for such investments. The risk mitigation strategy adopted for this is usually at a very high level.
d. Government Relations: the department serves as the company’s interface with the FCTA normally constituting contributions to draft policies concerning economic development of the FCT. The department is usually made to represent the company in FCTA Committees with a focus to outlining commercial elements in such assignments.
e. Financial Analysis: the department conducts in-depth financial analysis for the establishment of viability of projects and companies in terms of liquidity, solvency and profitability.
f. Company Policy Reviews: the department, in collaboration with other departments in the company, contributes to review of policies upheld by the company, with a view to ensure that business is coordinated in line with prevailing economic conditions.
